Master Bruce Corles
Master Bruce Corles has been training in Wing Chun Kung Fu for over 35 years. He is also a Trainer of Boxing, Kickboxing, and Sanda Champions.
Sifu Bruce, the head instructor and founder of Lifestyle Martial Arts, began his martial arts training in 1975. He started with Karate, Preying Mantis Kung Fu, and then boxing.
He found the need to learn self-defence at the age of five when he was a keen Rugby player, back when the streets of Auckland New Zealand were not as safe. After competing in the Queensland amateur boxing championships in 1983, Sifu Bruce moved to Melbourne in search of a Martial Arts system that’s not only practical at self-defence, but is also a lifestyle.
After observing a number of styles, Sifu Bruce found himself in China town Melbourne at the headquarters of the World Wing Chun Kung Fu Association in 1983 with the head instructor, Grandmaster William Cheung. After witnessing the grandmaster’s unique skills and teaching methods, Sifu Bruce found his path.
Sifu Bruce then trained in Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu, directly under Grandmaster William Cheung for the next 20 years. He was promoted to Gold Sash instructor level in 1990, where he began teaching as the head instructor of the World Wing Chun Kung Fu Association in Melbourne, Australia.
After competing in Kickboxing and Sanda, he furthered his training in Tai Chi and various Kung Fu weapons under World Wushu champion Master Liang Chang Xing. Over the past 25 years, Sifu Bruce has conducted many overseas seminars, organised local, and national martial arts tournaments, and has trained numerous state and national champions.
He’s been the trainer and coach of athletes representing Australia at the 2013 World Games in Malaysia, 2014 Junior World Games in Turkey, and 2014 Junior Youth Olympics in Nanjing China.
